Atelier sur l’écosystème forestier au Cameroun

Gestion durable de l’écosystème forestier au Cameroun :

Mercredi 30 janvier 2019. Atelier de lancement du " Projet de renforcement des capacités pour la gestion durable de l’écosystème forestier en République du Cameroun". L'atelier  qui aura lieu demain à l'hôtel Mérina à partir de 09h, est organisé avec l'appui de l'Agence Japonaise de coopération internationale (JICA).Agenda.

 
Etudes et les plans/stratégies du processus REDD+ au Cameroun

Le Ministre de l’Environnement, de la Protection de la nature et du Développement Durable (MINEPDED) porte à la connaissance de la communauté nationale et internationale que dans le cadre de la préparation du Cameroun au processus REDD+, plusieurs grandes études ont été réalisées lors de l’élaboration de la stratégie nationale REDD+.

Les rapports de ces études et les plans/stratégies développées sont disponibles sur le site du MINEPDED à l’adresse www.minep.gov.cm. Il s’agit :

-    D’une stratégie d’implication des peuples autochtones dans le processus REDD+ ;

-    D’une stratégie de prise en compte des femmes dans le processus REDD+

-    D’un plan national de consultation des parties prenantes sur REDD+;

-    D’une stratégie de communication sur la REDD + et son plan opérationnel;

-    De l’Analyse approfondie des facteurs de la déforestation et de la dégradation des forêts;

-    De l’analyse approfondie des options stratégiques pour lutter contre les facteurs de la déforestation et de la dégradation des forêts ;

-    D’une note conceptuelle pour le niveau de référence forestier national / niveau d'émission de référence de la forêt ;

-    D’une proposition du mécanisme de partage des avantages pour la REDD+;

-    D’une proposition du mécanisme de recours et de retour d'information ;

-    D’une proposition des arrangements institutionnels ;

-    D’une proposition du mécanisme de gestion du fonds ;

-    De l’harmonisation des politiques et lois sectorielles pour une mise en œuvre efficace de la REDD+;

-    Des réflexions nationales sur les droits sur le carbone et le régime de la propriété foncière;

-    De l’analyse pour la priorisation des avantages non-carbone pour REDD+;

-    Des directives nationales pour le MNV;

-    D’une évaluation des besoins en renforcement des capacités MNV ;

-    Des réflexions nationales pour les arrangements institutionnels MNV.

Evaluation Environnementale et Sociale Stratégique

Le Ministre de l’Environnement, de la Protection de la Nature et du Développement Durable (MINEPDED) porte à la connaissance de la communauté nationale et internationale que dans le cadre de la préparation du Cameroun au processus REDD+, une Evaluation Environnementale et Sociale Stratégique a été réalisée avec la participation des parties prenantes et complétée par des cadres de gestion.

Ces outils validés par la Banque Mondiale et disponible sur le site du MINEPDED à l’adresse www.minep.gov.cm sont :

Ces cadres ont pour principal objectif d’assurer la bonne gestion environnementale et sociale du processus REDD+ lors de la phase de mise en œuvre.

 
PCB reduction in Cameroon through the use of local expertise and the development of national capacities

Le ministre de l'environnement de la protection de la nature et du développement durable présidera le jeudi 16 août 2018 à l'Hôtel DJEUGA PALACE de YAOUNDE la cérémonie de remise officielle des Equipements d'analyses des PCB au profit de l'université de NGAOUNDERE.

The Minister of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development development will be presiding over the handing over ceremony of the PCB analyses  equipment to the University of NGAOUNDERE on the 16th of August 2018 at the Djeuga Palace hotel in YAOUNDE .

FUNDING: Global Environment Facility (GEF)

The Global Environment Facility has approved for its fifth operational phase (GEF 5: 2010-2014) the project entitled "Sustainable Agriculture and Conservation of Critical Habitat for Biodiversity Integration and Effective Management Of Protected Areas in the South-West region of Cameroon for the next four (4) years aims to strengthen and expand the Protected Areas network and integrate biodiversity conservation into the Bakossi-Banyang-Mbo landscape.

The project will be implemented under the supervision of the UN-Environment (former UNEP) and in close collaboration with key government institutions, co-funders, civil society organizations, community-based organizations and the private sector. This project has benefited a co funding from GEF to the tune of US $ 1,716,895 and an overall co-financing to a total  amount  6,122,840 US $  . This funding will help promote the conservation and integration of biodiversity in the Bakossi-Banyang-Mbo landscape and production through sustainable agricultural practices to improve livelihoods in the community and provide more commercial opportunities.This process will contribute to improved efficiency in the management of protected area systems, integration of biodiversity conservation in the various land-use options, including agriculture, mining, forestry, production and promote an integrated approach to the management at the level of the landscape, through the development and implementation of an interactive land use plan. This project will equally help to strengthen or develop a supportive policy in environment and knowledge creation for the implementation of the interactive land use plan and to manage changes in ecosystems that could result from immediate and ultimate causes.These objectives will be achieved through the following three components:

Component 1: Conservation of critical wildlife habitat through the creation or strengthening of Protected Areas of high conservation value;Component 2: Sustainable agricultural practices and promotion of "livelihoods of communities and conservation of biodiversity through an Integrated Environmental and Social Management Plan;Component 3: Knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation.

"Participative Integrated Ecosystems Service Management Plans for Bakassi Post Conflict Ecosystems” PINESMAP-BPCE

FUNDING: Global Environment Facility (GEF)

The Global Environment Facility has approved the project entitled "Participative Integrated Ecosystems Service Management Plan for Bakassi Post Conflict Ecosystem” PINESMAP-BPCE in Ndian division of the South-West region of Cameroon for the next four (4) years and the project aims at Conserving and sustainable use and improved management of Bakassi ecosystems through integrated ecosystems management plans and ecosystems valuation.

The project will be implemented under the supervision of the UN-Environment (former UNEP) and in close collaboration with key government institutions, co-financier, civil society organizations, community-based organizations and the private sector. This project has benefited a co funding from GEF to the tune of US $ 2,652,968 and an overall co-financing to a total amount US $12,850,000. This funding will seek to ensure biodiversity conservation and sustainable use and improved management of Bakassi ecosystems through integrated ecosystem management plans including ecosystem valuation. This process will contribute to improved efficiency in the management of protected area systems, integration of biodiversity conservation in the various land-use options, including agriculture, mining, forestry, production and promote an integrated approach to the management at the level of the landscape, through the development and implementation of an interactive land use plan. This project will equally help to strengthen or develop a supportive policy in environment and knowledge creation for the implementation of the interactive land use plan and to manage changes in ecosystems that could result from immediate and ultimate causes. These objectives will be achieved through the following three components: Component 1: Institutional and stakeholder capacity building to be able to engage in the development and implementation of the IESMP;Component 2: Participative and inclusive development and implementation of IESMP;Component 3: Knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation.

In the Budgeted annual work plan of 2018 for PINESMAP-BPCE project, the Government of the Republic of Cameroon through the Ministry of the Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development is recruiting two qualified national experts to carry out the following:

Consultant 1: To develop information, education and Sensitization (IEC) plan on the values of ecosystems services and biodiversity in the Bakassi Area and identify communication and sensitization tools.

Consultant 2: To Elaborate in a participatory manner indicators on socio-economic impacts and environmental conditions to support implementation of the Bakassi IESMP.

Consultant 3: To Support the Designing, Development and Management of the Portal for Project Information Sharing on the MINEPDED website.

Consultant 4: To carry out a study on existing and potential conflicts and disaster risks in the region, compare in relation to existing natural resource governance frameworks (policies, processes and institutions), and identify mitigation measures
